Leave a lasting impression

"Not only did Jake put on an amazing Jake in the Box show,  he entertained and marched through the park for our Minto Pride parade, on his stilts. I highly recommend Jake for your next festival or event: professional, punctual, organized and a great entertainer is what you'll get when you book Jake in the Box!"

Who is Jake in the Box?

Jake is an emerging Indigenous, queer, and francophone multidisciplinary artist originally from Timmins, Ontario, and a member of Mattagami First Nation. Specializing in circus and street theatre he performs across Ontario, animating public spaces, festivals and events.

Jake began training circus and performing arts as a teenager, during his participation with the Festival Théâtre Action en Millieu scolaire, a francophone theatre festival for high school youth. As a young adult, Jake has mentored under experienced street performers to learn stilt performance, juggling and clowning, while developing original material for public performance. He has most recently completed a week long Indigenous hoop dance intensive with Arik Pipestem and the Chimera Project Dance Theatre where he had the opportunity to move forward in his personal journey to reconnecting with culture and community.

Jake is the creator of evolving an independent 30 minute juggling and hula hooping show called the Jake in the Box. His solo show was debuted at the Toronto International Busker Festival in 2024. Now based in Toronto, he is an active member of the street performing community. Jake has appeared with INCIRQUE at various busker festivals and has performed in communities all across Ontario. He strongly believes in the importance of accessible public performance for everyone, regardless of their social or economic circumstances.

On a stage, in a park or part of a bustling  festival, Jake in the Box brings a show adaptable to any environment.
